Stomach CrampsA stomach cramp is the most common type of cramp. It is experienced by many people. It is typically a squeezing pain occurring over a span of period ranging from a few minutes to hours sometimes. The origin of the pain is the stomach region and the area around it but at times it may originate somewhere else and then gradually move up to the stomach. They are usually associated with the digestive disorders, but there may be other causes as well. Diarrhea, constipation, a viral infection, irritable bowel
syndrome, diverticulosis, lactose intolerance, even food poisoning are some of the other causes. Eating habits are the root cause of stomach cramps in most cases. Bad eating habits, eating improper quality and quantity of food at improper times cause stomach cramps quite often. Eating improperly handled foods may lead to stomach cramps, indigestion, nausea, vomiting and food poisoning in extreme cases. Stress is also said to lead to stomach cramps in kids and adults as well. Not consuming a well-balanced diet, not consuming enough fiber and water during the meals also leads to frequent stomach cramps. A visit to the doctor is advisable if the stomach cramp persists for a week or more and is accompanied with fever, bloody stools and other symptoms.

3. Consuming a lot of fluids and water when hit with food poisoning and viral infections keeps stomach cramps at bay.
4. A person who is lactose intolerant has to avoid consuming milk and milk products as these may cause stomach cramps, gas and diarrhea in such people.
